The Nisqually Wildlife Refuge has three primary trails, all a very easy walk on flat terrain. Its located in the area known as the Nisqually Flats along Puget Sound between Ft. Lewis and Olympia where the Nisqually River flows into the Sound adjacent to I-5. You may want to click on the "F11" on your keyboard to make the image full screen. The Nisqually Wildlife Refuge features these three trails; the shorter ones are wheelchair accessible and all are an easy walk through a lush setting of water, marsh and forest. The Twin Barns Loop Trail is constructed of a raised boardwalk with viewing platforms.

These are the two barns that the Twin Barns Loop Trail is named for. Originally the Nisqually Wildlife Refuge was a farm but these two old abandoned barns are all that remain.
